Welcome to the seventh lesson on how to read the Quran in Arabic using the famous Noorani Qaida (نوراني قاعدة) booklet.
In this lesson we will be introduced to your first double vowel, or double kasrah.
Double Vowel – Double Kasrah
Now that you’ve mastered (if you haven’t..go back and review) the Arabic alphabet, 3 vowels, and double fatha, now it’s time to move on to double kasrah.
A double vowel is like a regular vowel, except the addition of a “n” sound at the end.
Regular kasrah
T + kasrah = Te
Double kasrah
T + Double kasrah = Ten
Now lets look at the first row, third word from the right. The letters are: “H” “j” “j”
H + kasrah = He
j + fatha = ja
j + double kasrah = jen <<<–notice the “n”..why is it there?
