Noorani Qaida – Lesson 9 – Saakin

Welcome to the ninth lesson on how to read the Quran in Arabic using the famous Noorani Qaida (نوراني قاعدة) booklet.

In this lesson we will be introduced to something called sakin.

What’s a Sakin?

After covering the Arabic Alphabet and vowels, now we will learn about the connector (sakin) of two letters.

So far we have only seen Arabic words and phrases with vowels on each word, but let’s have a look at the following example:

Can <<<<— Does the “n” have a vowel? We know that the “C” does..

So in Arabic, to write this word you would have to but a sakin on the “n” to show lack of a vowel.

C + fatha = Ca

n + Sakin = n
