Welcome to the thirteenth lesson on how to read the Quran in Arabic using the famous Noorani Qaida (نوراني قاعدة) booklet.

In this lesson we will be introduced to stretching due to the following empty alif.

Empty Alif – Stretch IT!

So the rule is as follows:

(a)If a letter has a fatha on top of it

(b)There is a empty alif (no fatha, kasrah, dammah, double vowel or sakin on top of it) after that letter

You have to STRETCH the letter for about a second longer than usual.
